Mistconceptions is a City of Mist actual play podcast featuring super-flawed, super-powered heroes as they investigate crime and conspiracies in a modern-day city filled with forgotten fairy tales and menacing mythological creatures. The City is a place where no one is as they seem. As the heroes reveal more and more of the mystery of the City, so too will they reveal more and more of the mystery in and of themselves. What they discover will both tear apart their conceptions of their own lives and change the City forever.

The Cast

At a young age, David White (he/him) had a knack for  telling stories and also creating epic home movies on his camcorder (most of which have been disposed of by men in yellow, puffy suits). David loves to experience stories, whether they be around a gaming table, within the pages of a book, or on a screen. David is the producer of the Mistconceptions Podcast Network, the MC of Mistconceptions, and plays Rickett Covingnell on Sins of the Father.

Tessa Wolford (she/her) stumbled into the ttrpg world by pure circumstance in 2015. As a former small-scale actress, Tessa found her passion for acting revived through rpgs. She loves to try out different characters, attempt different voices, and is known to “covertly” process her own emotions through her characters. She loves mysteries, love stories, and the personal relationships that are built in each session. Tessa plays Fae Carver on Mistconceptions, countless characters on the Side-Quest episodes, and is the Side-Quest editor.

Jaime Torres (he/him) was born and raised in the area south of Houson, Texas. He’s a devoted fan of the all of Houston’s sports teams, and knows Houston will always be better than Dallas. Jaime loves competition, whether it be in the lanes of Summoner’s Rift or on the basketball court. Jaime’s favorite rpg character was a halfling ninja who lived in a mobile yurt towed around by a triceratops named Sarah, but since that character died years ago, he now plays Bill on Mistconceptions. 

Kari White (she/her) began her “acting career” in Junior High and also quickly ended it in Junior High.  However, her love for drama and acting did not go away. When Kari met (and subsequently fell in love with) David in college, she developed a love for RPGs as well! Since then, Kari has had the opportunity to try out many different systems and characters, but she is most comfortable as Esther Black, her character on Mistconceptions! 

Zach Cave (he/him) loves psycholgy, Star Wars, and video games. If all three could be lumped into one, he’d be pretty happy. The first ttrpg that he ever played was Fantasy Flight’s Edge of the Empire. Zach also really enjoys spending time in the kitchen making baked goods. Zach plays Ren on Mistconceptions.
